If you’ve played BA enough you’ll realize that it’s more efficient to place units in certain places and build them closer to others and sometimes it’s better to keep certain units apart. In this guide I will be explaining the best way to place and space units so they don’t get damaged as easily and how to prevent your whole base being blown up in one go.
Below I will list how to place some of the most popular units so as they don’t chain explode as easily. Chain exploding is when one unit gets destroyed and then it causes other units to take damage and possibly explode too as an exploding unit gives off splash damage within a certain range. To space units, hold the ‘Z’ key to increase spacing and hold the ‘X’ to decrease spacing.
Here are the best ways to space some units:
Windmills: Windmills are best to be placed with at least a 2 block gap between each windmill when they are built in a box shape like the image illustrated. If they are built next to each other with no spacing, once one windmill dies, it will chain react with the other windmills and cause the whole block to blow up.

Metal Makers: When Metal Makers die they cause a large explosion killing most low health units within about 5 blocks of distance. Therefore it is best to keep Metal Makers around 4+ spaces apart otherwise they chain react very easily.
Dragon Teeth Perimeter: Dragon Teeth aren’t so concerning as once they are built, they are very hard to destroy, they don’t chain react and they are cheap. However, keeping one space between your between your dragon teeth means you don’t have to build as many and it saves a little metal. The only downside is that fleas can pass through them but no other unit can. Some people choose to do this on Greenfields where metal is scarce but don’t forget fleas are also very popular on Greenfields!

Fusions: Fusions are also very explosion as you might imagine so it’s pretty much the same kind of spacing as Metal makers. 6+ spaces is usually suitable in this case.

Core Tech 2 Air Plants: This is a surprising one as this problem doesn’t occur with the Arm Tech 2 Air Plants. Basically, if you build a Core Tech 2 Air Plant, don’t place anything directly in front of it or else it won’t be able to build anything. 1 space is enough to keep them happy.
Spacing is pretty obvious with most units so you can use your initiantive once you learn how units explode and what radius damage they give off. If I find any new spacing suprises like the Air Plants, I will update this post. Just remember, if you’re going to Adv Fusion porc, don’t bother with spacing as once one dies it pretty much kills everything within 30-40 blocks away so you might as well save the nano power and keep them together… but safe. If you have a ton of space and are hogging the map, feel free to build them all over the place.

Maybe add a comment about LLTs and spacing? You dont want to build those next to each other usually.
Great guides btw
“Maybe add a comment about LLTs and spacing?”
You just did it for me ^_^ That’s one plus for comments, anybody can give their own tips or info about the guide.
