“If it’s going to have credibility ... it’s got to be led by Indigenous people" and “We’re going to do it the right way ... not from the top, but coming from the bottom up.” Owen Cole and Harold Furber updated the Town Council on a National Indigenous Cultural Centre for Alice Springs, a project quite distinct from the government's proposed art gallery, in focus and process. National Indigenous Cultural Centre to be 'community-led'

The National Indigenous Cultural Centre will be “community-led", “working in reverse” to the government’s process on the National Indigenous Art Gallery: the criticism was understated but explicit from the Cultural Centre project leaders in a public information session held last Thursday. KIERAN FINNANE reports with additional reporting by ERWIN CHLANDA.

Mayor Damien Ryan told the Alice Springs News Online that personally he favours the Anzac site for the Indigenous art gallery and the relocation of the rugby codes to Bradshaw Drive.
